|
- Volunteer Application Form - probably filled out at signups. If not, applications will be on hand at the Basic Coach Clinic or apply electronically at http://www.eayso.org/.
- Safe Haven Certification - Region-administered 2-hour class focusing on Child and Volunteer Protection Act guidelines. See below for Safe Haven Clinic time and place.

U5, U6, and U8 Coaches
|
- U8 Coach Certification - Region-administered 4-hour Basic Coach Clinic (U8 emphasis) focusing on basic team management, soccer skills, and strategy. See below for Basic Coach Clinic time and place.

U10 and U12 Coaches
|
- U12 Coach Certification - Region-administered 4-hour Basic Coach Clinic (U12 emphasis) focusing on intermediate team management, soccer skills, and strategy. See below for Basic Coach Clinic time and place. It is highly recommended that U12 coaches pursue Intermediate Coach Certification.

- Advanced Coach Certification - Area-administered 15-hour clinic focusing on advanced team management, soccer skills, and strategy - Advanced Clinic Flyer

- U10 and U12 - Intermediate Coach Certification .
- U14 thru U19 - Advanced Coach Certification. All-Star Coach applications will be due two weeks prior to the ratings meeting.
- No misconduct during fall season.

Certifications can also be earned by attending similar clinics in other Regions and Areas. So, if you cannot make one of our clinics, please check the websites of other Regions within Area K, or other Areas within Section 11. See links to other Regions and Areas below.
If you are unsure of your coaching credentials, Certified Coaches below. These are the Volunteer Coach Certifications according to the National database.
All coaches are encouraged to achieve higher-than-required certifications! USSF License E is equivalent to the AYSO Intermediate Coach Certification and will be honored as such. USSF License D will be honored as an Advanced Coach Certification.

Coach Administration Team
In an effort to provide the greatest support to our region coaches, the coach administrative staff at Region 117 have restructured the board position of Regional Coach Administrator into three primary positions: (1) Regional Coach Administrator and (2) Director of Post Season Play. The responsibilities of these two board members are as follows:
Regional Coach Administrator - Alan Gandall - Century1@earthlink.net
- Recruiting and supervising of all coaches in the Region.
- Working with other administrators of the region (Regional Commissioner, Registrar, and Coordinators) to ensure there are enough coaches to support the size of the region.
- Run Fall draft for U12 to U19 Divisions.
- Coordinate a pre-season coaches meeting where issues of sportsmanship, safety, new laws, and specific regional issues are presented.
- Run player ratings meeting and assist with Spring season team formation as needed.
- Coordinate a post-season meeting of coaches to recognize contributions and gather input for the following year (i.e., list of coaches who will return, names of potential new coaches).
- Verify volunteer application forms are filled out by each coach.
- Attend the Section Meeting and other area/section meetings as required throughout the year.
- Planning and implementation of coaching clinics and other training programs, and to coordinate such efforts with Area and/or Section staff.
- Assist the Area Coach Trainer in scheduling an Intermediate Coach Course for the Region coaches.
- Support the Section Coach Trainer in scheduling an Advanced Coach Course for the Region coaches.
- Support the AYSO National Support and Training Center database of registered coaches from Region 117.
- Provide in-season training opportunities (specialized clinics, pizza night, etc.).
- Contribute articles on coaching to web site and newsletter.
- Obtains the course guides from AYSO National Support Center or Area staff; obtains qualified instructors to teach.
- Participate in player ratings and Spring season team formation as needed.
- Maintain a regional library of coach training material.
- Attend the Section Meeting and other area/section meetings as required throughout the year.
Director of Post Season Play -Bill Cottle - thecottles@verizon.net
- Provide information to region on Region and Area Play-offs, All Stars, Spring Season, tournaments, soccerfests, and other post regulation fall season play opportunities for regional players and coaches.
- Direct All Star season team formation.
- Direct Spring season team formation.
- Co-ordinate the preparation of the region schedules for play-offs and spring season.
- Provide uniform/bag information to post season teams (to be coordinated with the Uniform Director).
- Display standing as appropriate on web site.
- Announce winners and distribute awards accordingly.
- Attend the Section Meeting and other area/section meetings as required throughout the year.
